The 'new hire' orientation for employees at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky (TMMK) depended on traditional methods to introduce new hires to the company and educate them about their roles. This involved creating various paper-based materials tailored for different employee types and then tracking progress and completion using spreadsheets, which significantly increased the administrative workload for those overseeing the orientation.
Design a web-based new hire orientation application to streamline the onboarding process for administrators. This application should enable various employee types to access shared information while also providing role-specific details. It should feature user-friendly updating capabilities, robust tracking of new hires' comprehension and progress, and mechanisms for verifying acknowledgment of company policies and regulations.
I designed and developed a database driven ASP application that greatly decreased the level of effort needed to manage new hire orientations. Administrators could easily add new hires to the application and send them through content specific to their position. Content could include text, images, videos, custom quizzes and acknowledgement of understanding and acceptance. New hire progress was tracked through the process and upon completion the employee could print their certificate of completion.
